What happens during a teeth cleaning appointment?
Dr. Lockwood recommend that you and your family schedule a teeth cleaning in Kenai, Alaska, at least every six months. This appointment includes a professional teeth cleaning, fluoride, a dental exam, and dental X-rays. Our hygienist will use a small, metal tool to scrape the plaque and tartar from your teeth. Then our hygienist will floss your teeth, polish them, and apply fluoride. Fluoride is a mineral that helps protect your teeth from decay by strengthening the teeth enamel. Our dentist will then examine all of your teeth and gums for signs of tooth decay, gingivitis, and other dental issues. Sometimes, they will decide to take dental X-rays to get a more complete look at your smile. If any dental issues were found, our dentist will recommend one or more of our general and family dental services. Our dental team will make sure that you understand everything that is involved with your treatment options.
